What Is In-House Lab Testing?
In-house lab testing means that certain diagnostic tests and specimen collection happen right here in our office. Instead of sending you to a separate location and waiting days for results, we can often process tests during or shortly after your visit. This gets you answers faster and allows your provider to respond quickly.
How In-House Lab Testing Works
- Your provider determines which tests are needed based on your visit.
- Samples are collected in office, such as blood, urine, or a swab.
- Rapid tests are processed immediately when available.
- Your provider reviews results with you and discusses next steps.
For tests that require an outside reference lab, we handle the ordering and follow up with you as soon as results are available.
Common Tests Available In House
Our in-house lab capabilities include:
- Rapid strep and flu testing
- Urinalysis and urine cultures
- Blood glucose checks
- Complete blood counts and metabolic panels
- Thyroid and lipid panels
- Pregnancy tests
- COVID-19 testing
If a test is not available in house, we will coordinate with a trusted external lab and make the process as easy as possible for you.

Having lab services in the same office as your provider means fewer trips, faster results, and a more connected care experience. When your provider can see your results in context with your visit, decisions about your care can happen the same day.
Do I need a separate lab order to get tested?
No. Lab testing is ordered by your provider during your visit. There is no need to obtain a separate referral or order in advance.
How long does it take to get results?
Rapid tests done in office provide results within minutes. Tests sent to an outside lab typically return within one to three business days.
Do I need to fast before my blood work?
It depends on what is being tested. Cholesterol panels and fasting glucose often require you not to eat for eight to twelve hours beforehand. Your provider or our team will let you know in advance.
How will I receive my lab results?
Your provider will review results with you directly. For tests sent out, we will contact you as soon as results are received. Please make sure your contact information is current.
